The bridge now connects the helipad and the clinics of the Karlsruhe Municipal Hospital with the neighboring Helios Clinic for Cardiac Surgery. Patients can now be transported more quickly and safely. The design, which we developed together with Werner Sobek, won the competition with its aesthetics and high functionality: the bridge spans Franz-Lust-Straße and the tram tracks with a gentle curve. On each side, a bifurcated girder with cantilevers blends into the avenue of plane trees, while another one stands in front of the helipad. A white box girder, illuminated at night, rests on it, finding the ideal path with an S-curve.
